Photography & Social Media Policy

Purpose

NDTC 2026 recognises that photography, filming and social media play an important role in celebrating participation and achievement. This policy helps ensure that such activities are conducted safely and responsibly.

General Principles

• Photography and filming should be appropriate and respectful.
• The welfare of children and young people is paramount.
• Images should never be used in a way that places a child at risk.
• Event officials may intervene where safeguarding concerns arise.

Permitted Photography

• Photography of competition activities.
• Photography of presentations and ceremonies.
• Photography by accredited media personnel.
• Photography by parents and spectators for personal use.

Prohibited Photography

• Photography in toilets, changing rooms or medical areas.
• Secretive or intrusive photography.
• Photography intended to harass, intimidate or exploit.
• Use of images in a manner that may endanger a child.

Social Media Expectations

• Be respectful when posting content online.
• Do not post abusive, discriminatory or offensive content.
• Avoid sharing personal information about children.
• Do not identify vulnerable individuals unnecessarily.
• Follow safeguarding instructions issued by event organisers.

Volunteers and Officials

Volunteers and officials should not use personal social media accounts to communicate privately with children or young people involved in the event.

Reporting Concerns

Any concern regarding photography, filming or online behaviour should be reported immediately to the Event Safeguarding Lead or through the safeguarding reporting portal.

Removal of Content

Event organisers reserve the right to request the removal of photographs, videos or online content where safeguarding concerns have been identified.
