Safeguarding Policy
NDTC Multi Sports Exhibition Event 2026
Purpose
NDTC 2026 is committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for children, young people, adults, volunteers, coaches, officials, parents and spectators. The welfare of children and young people is the primary safeguarding priority.
Scope
This policy applies to all event participants, including athletes, coaches, volunteers, officials, parents, guardians, spectators, contractors and members of the organising team.
Safeguarding Principles
- The welfare of children and young people comes first.
- All concerns must be taken seriously.
- Concerns must be reported promptly and accurately.
- Information must only be shared with those who need to know.
- Everyone has a responsibility to help keep the event safe.
Recognising Safeguarding Concerns
Safeguarding concerns may include bullying, discrimination, abuse, neglect, inappropriate behaviour, unsafe adult conduct, online harm, photography misuse, missing children, welfare concerns or any situation where a child or vulnerable person may be at risk.
Reporting a Concern
Any safeguarding concern should be reported immediately using the event safeguarding reporting portal or directly to the Event Safeguarding Lead.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 999 first and then notify the safeguarding team as soon as possible.
Confidentiality
Safeguarding information must be treated confidentially. Information should only be shared with those responsible for protecting the child, young person or person at risk.
Missing Child Incidents
Any report of a missing child must be treated as urgent. The Missing Child Procedure must be followed immediately and the Event Safeguarding Lead must be informed without delay.
Expected Behaviour
- Treat all people with dignity and respect.
- Follow instructions from event officials and safeguarding personnel.
- Do not use abusive, threatening or discriminatory language.
- Do not place yourself in an unnecessary one-to-one situation with a child.
- Report concerns, even if you are unsure.
